Aha! is filled with genuine and smart people. Profit sharing is great. Big emphasis on doing the right thing for the world, volunteering. Biannual meetings are great. Profitable, which is nice.
CEO and CTO control every aspect of the company. No one makes decisions except for them. They make all decisions related to strategy, systems, and personnel. This is a place to come in and put your head down and get paid well. Any change requires hours of drafts and approvals by the founders. And they are not very nice about it. The product is fine for product roadmapping, but Aha! uses their product for every aspect of the business. Everything is stored and managed through Aha!, including things that have nothing to do with product roadmapping, like corporate policies, event planning, onboarding, training, finance. It is not an intuitive product to use and this greatly impacts productivity, but no one cares. Compensation and benefits are lagging. If a well-funded company with more investment in user research and design builds a competing product for roadmapping, Aha! will not be able to compete. It is a very slow-moving company where everyone rushes to get busywork done. Expectation that you will be responsive at all hours, every day. If you work with the CEO at any level, you will need to work 7 days a week and check slack/email at all times.
