The culture at this company is fantastic. Managers are down to earth and easy to get along with. They want to see you succeed. They keep their techs up to date on the latest policy and technology changes in the company by holding regular meetings. If you don't have much experience but you want to make a career move into IT, this is a great place to start. They offer all-you-can-eat reimbursements for certifications so you can study for and get as many certs as you want, then use them to move over to a better paying job. The bar for performance is extremely low. Techs do not have to perform well technically but customer service is very important. Most of the performance metrics revolve around the client not noticing that you have been late or absent. The tech who worked at this location before me would not bother to show up on many days.
Most techs and managers do not get a pay increase ever for any reason. If a tech is exceptionally good they might get a very small increase after their annual review. There are no promotions - this job is 100% dead end. You will not be able to work at this company for more than 4 years because at that point you'll be making so little money that you won't be able to afford to pay your bills. Managers complain all the time that there are serious problems with the technology and the documentation available at the client company but the client will not allow them to make any changes to the technology or documentation. It has to be done by the client company and they have a 2-year backlog on changes. When I arrived the desk I was provided was filled with rat nests and feces and there was so much e-waste that the previous tech had completely filled up the office and then simply left it behind and moved into the office next door. It took a full year to clean out all of the debris and organize the cables and peripherals. Employees at the host company are conniving and will try to trick naive techs into violating policies so they get what they want and the tech gets into trouble.
