Work life balance is very good, but may vary by team. Working over 40 hours is unheard of, and afterhours work it's usually expected to take that time back elsewhere in the week. Benefits are good. Most of the teams I've worked with have been full of great people.
I once thought I'd be another one of the 30+ year veterans spending my entire career at Duke, but I see the writing on the wall. Over the last 5 years, things have really gone downhill. Constant cost cutting and reorganizing has left most teams struggling to get by with the bare minimum. Salaries have not kept up with the market, bonus payouts have been dwindling (except the CEO's), and overall morale is at an all time low. Senior leadership is out of touch and only cares about the bottom line. Most of the workforce is older, and as they have been forced out or retired, we can't seem to retain new talent to fill the void. Really sad to see as this was once a company everyone was proud to work for.
