A program to pair cameras with the stop-arms of school buses across Niagara County is underway. The move comes after New York passed legislation allowing said cameras, which are designed to increase safety for students. For the program, Niagara County will enter into an agreement with a company that will provide the cameras.

Miriam Frances (nee Wigle) White, 99, passed away peacefully at Niagara Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on January 21, 2021. Miriam, the daughter of Elmer and Lois Wigle, was born on March 23, 1921 in Niagara Falls and lived there all her life. In 1949, she was married to Robert White.

The Shawnee Sno-Chiefs, a Cambria snowmobile club, has received a new $245,000 snowmobile trail grooming machine, thanks to a federal grant. A Federal Highway Administration Recreational Trail Program grant paid 80% of the cost of the new machine. Club director Gary P. Broderick said in a news release that the club paid the remainder of the price.

ALBANY -- The Cuomo administration's efforts to restrict county health departments from administering the COVID-19 vaccines to senior citizens is being questioned by some county leaders. Gov. Andrew Cuomo and a top aide, Larry Schwartz, are telling county governments to make essential front-line workers their priority in using the dosages provided to them, while elderly people should be directed to pharmacies.
The FDA has issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for COVID-19 vaccinations. An EUA is an expedited FDA approval process utilized in public health emergencies. Since the pandemic, EUAs have been issued for vaccinations as well as drugs. This helps expedite care to the patients who need it most.
