The work life balance in my group is great. My team genuinely cares about me. The title and the company look good on a resume.
I have worked at both companies before they merged. I genuinely enjoyed Warner's culture. However, with Zaslav at the helm now I see the same degradation that made me disenchanted with Discovery in the first place. The pay is awful. I have requested a raise after a year in my current position and 6 years of experience total. Despite glowing reviews from my manager they have told me their hands are tied. The only way to get HR to listen is to get a competitive job offer. It is disheartening to say the least. I like my team, and would be interested growing in the company, but if the only way to do so is threatening to leave, then I don't see a future there long term. It is also frustrating how few full-time employees there is. Most people are project hires or contract workers. It is rare to get converted to full-time in these positions despite the position existing for years rotating through workers. There are distinct classes between the workers that breeds resentment. For example, contract workers cannot attend the company holiday party. These divides are exploitative to say the least, but there is little action anyone can take. This resentment is deepened knowing Zaslav is consistently one of the highest paid CEO's in salary despite his middling performance.
