Culture is important because the company doesn't have to shell out for it and would rather have that seem important than pay. Also who was surveyed?

I agree. I much preferred working at the company I was at before Cisco acquired us even though my compensation doubled after the acquisition. Cisco is a complete shitshow internally, full of mediocre or worse people. As soon as my RSUs all vest I will go work at another startup.
