I belong to a small town in India , in Uttar Pradesh. To enjoy some time and releive childhood memories I often take 2-3 months remote. However, when I start living the reality again , the nostalgia doesn't take much time to fade away. The family of my father's brother also stays in same house. This uncle of mine is not much educated and works as clerk. He and his wife used to dominate us due to our humble beginnings, but later we made good strides with education. and they cringe till the extreme every day. Always doing petty politics on small things , self gloryfying , trying to take over every piece of open land area which my grandfather had intentionally left for greenary, Openly asking for gratifications in form of dutyful gifts, cringing upon my mother (parents live alone in this house once I return to Bangalore)....list goes on.. I literally boil while they go om testing my patience. Joint family really sucks.. All this necessary evil I tolerate due to own nostalgia which pulls me every spring closer to native and my parents who don't want to settle elsewhere out of this revered place .... Cringe ... Blind tax : TC- INR 1.3 cr ish

They feel the need to one up you because your family turned out more successful. Not indian but also have similar extended family living much closer. If I could completely cut them out of my life, I would
