Need to retire a 2015 MacBook for personal use. Thinking about getting a used/refurbished one. Eyeing at M1 Pro 32GB 1TB. M4 MacBook is going to be available in a few months. Main use cases: office work, coding, light video editing, work on ecommerce image editing lightly, Interviewing. Might want to try run LLM locally a bit and experiment it a bit. Should I wait until M4 MacBook launch then get M1 Pro or just go with M4? Constraints: need to control budget. Ben looking at Backmarket, Amazon renewed, EBay refurbished, reeblo. TC: 275k
A 2016 Mac will be much cheaper
Dude, just buy with M2. M1 is too old and a lot of issues lately (I got one from Costco a month ago and returned it) M3/M4 -> if you think you don’t mind spending the extra $ amount.
What issues m1 pro have?
Ive had a 14" M1 Pro since launch and have had zero issues. Easily the best laptop Ive ever had. I have a M3 Pro too, its certainly faster when I benchmark it, but not something I really notice in day to day usage. Id still recommend a M1 Pro to anyone, outside the fact it has a shorter lifespan for security updates ahead of it. All in contrast to the Ives era intel macbooks being the absolute worst laptops Ive had the misfortune of using.
When is m4 launch

No it will increase in price
Wish doesn’t have their own version of m1?
TC, or GTFO, Kinda joking. But if you make an okay amount of money the price drops are not worth the wait, just get it now. Prices won’t drop too significantly.
