Hey! I’m moving from the Midwest to Westfield, just got an offer accepted too. Anyone here from the area or live in it, and how do they like it? We loved it when we visited, my commute would just be to Penn Station so not too far. I have my wife (SAHM, a kid, 2 dogs.
Not from the area, but I used to visit the place pretty often when I worked in New Providence, NJ. Westfield is a nice upscale town. I'm just curious: Which company around there did you apply to? Or would this be in nyc?
It would be in NYC
Before buying a house, check the property tax rate. NJ leads the nation and it is common to pay $20-$30k per year in property taxes. Varies from town to town
I’m a disabled veteran, so fully exempt from NJ property taxes
You should verify as the property taxes are not levied at the state level but at the township level. In any case, this means that the property prices will stay depressed and will likely appreciate at a lower than inflation level.
Good Luck 🍀 You will like the Green State 😊 many eateries plus NYC. Only thing might be an issue or advice is if you take NJT than try to avoid the peak hours as it gets pretty crowded plus in summer it’s horrible). That’s the only issue I see so far in my commute to Penn Station. Feel free to DM if you need more info.
Beware of the neighbors (The Watcher) 😉
I need to watch that series now!
