Seattle vs Bellevue

Working parents, we have a 2 year old and we both work full time. Would you live in Seattle or Bellevue? We like city living but not too urban like downtown. Does anyone like living on the Eastside or do you do it for schools/bigger house? What do you like about it? Is there any character? I visited Bellevue and it seems extremely boring. Aside from easier access to the mountains, what else is good there? All of the Eastside suburbs seem like nondescript cities with houses and office buildings. Anyone here with young kids living in Seattle proper? If it's by choice, what do you like about it? Which neighborhoods? #parenting #workingparent #housing

Stay in Seattle if you think eastside is boring. There's too many ppl already here, we don't need more.

East side is factually and objectively boring and no one in their right mind can deny that.

Protecting 2 yo from mentally sick drug addicts camping in parks across Seattle will be fun! Go for it!

Eastside. Seattle is a shitshow.

Checkout Magnolia and upper Queen Anne both are great so is Laurelhurst. Most of the blind folks are on east side and love to diss Seattle and yeah east side is very boring. Seattle has many good areas I have named a few. We had similar reasons as you, didn’t want a boring suburban life and wanted to stay close to city, very happy with our decision. DM me if you have more questions. P.s. We have a baby too.

Try Kirkland. Very expensive but lots of character and great schools

Live in Seattle, two young kids Pre-K. We have had no problem quickly finding high quality nannies. I've heard it can be harder from east side parents I know. People who say Seattle is a mess have some weird political axe to grind. Plenty of quality neighborhoods that are still close to downtown, and don't feel like urban living at all. Upper Queen Anne is probably the best balance of proximity to downtown, freeways, lack of homeless, good public schools, and good housing stock. Magnolia if you want more for you money.

prefer Eastside. here are subjective reasons: - Clean, well maintained, green - Feels like a top tier place by all means except for restaurants, but Seattle resfaurants are not impressive either after NYC. Seattle feels like a 2d tier city - Walkable (where we live), and we don’t need to go up or down hill all the time

a good proxy of city tier is real estate prices
