Joseph Stalin and Chiang Kai-shek may not appear to have a lot in common but in fact they did. Both men rose to power around the same time: Stalin consolidated power in 1927 by edging out Trotsky while Chiang became China's leader in 1928 after edging out the CCP. Stalin then died in 1952 while Chiang was overthrown in 1949. Chiang also copied a lot of Stalin's techniques including his penchant for political purges and even his title: Generalissimo. Curiously, Chiang was originally brought to power with Stalin's help via the Comintern backing of the KMT and the Northern Expedition from 1923 to 1927.
Geopolitical relationships are complex. Hitler totally loved the UK. Too bad Churchill really needed Germany to fight Russia. The goal was to annex Russia all along.
What an insane take
Hitler even let the British retreat at Dunkirk. He was delusional. He was a tool just like Zelensky. Ever wondered why France capitulated so quickly? They did not want to distract Hitler from going East. Only because Stalin's army fought so well and so hard they had to change the script. Then there was the Cold War.
I live near a giant statue of Chiang Kai shek
The biggest difference is that Stalin is a hero but Chiang was a loser. Victors write the history.
Where is Stalin considered a hero? (Expect Russia to some extent)
China as well. That's all that matters. Stalin and Mao were not the best of friends but they had a constructive relationship.
