Well Amazon’s not great (shocker!). Which companies have a great culture, wlb and pay well? Looking for some stability and space to grow.#tech #design TC: 310 L6
I’m loving it here at Ulta. Growing team and at the beginning of creating cool stuff with really really kind and smart ppl.
How large are the teams there? Are they open to full remote? Glad you’re happy there!
A large portion of the team is full remote with 4 o sites a year.
The answer to this question is: Any place that challenges designers to give their best, any place where they are adequately compensated, and last but not the least, any place where they have autonomy and agency. Our collective problem is that we seek brand name recognition and that might not be the best opportunity or the best design culture or the best designed product. Instead, play to your strengths and find a role/ org where you are given the opportunity to succeed.
Nowhere is stable anymore.
Other than the pay I preferred Amazon over Google tbh
Not TikTok
Workday /s
LOL.
Basically what Turvo said, and I can also speak positively for Snowflake — it is however very intense. You’re probably very capable of picking any small place and making an impact and shaping your experience there. Soooooo many more companies appreciate design and want creative thinking. As for where to find these places, you can peruse various VC firms, maybe Wellfound, poke around ProductHunt.
I would beg to work for Amazon as a designer 😭 Recruiters never give me a chance 😭😭😭😭
For the record, there are some great designers at Amazon. The politics and lack of design know-how for L7+ is shocking.
Are you currently at Amazon? If so, can you give feedback on my portfolio? 😭
