Indeed Careers: Everything you need to know

Are you looking for a new career? Indeed is a successful job-seeking platform that hires people all over the world. So whether you’re trained in coding, web development, or another vocation, Indeed can help as the largest job searching engine!

About Indeed

Indeed is one of the most popular job-seeking platforms. While it hosts numerous jobs, there are plenty of careers available at Indeed itself – a lot of work goes into maintaining the database and website. The website has more than 250 million unique visitors per month, and you can access it in over 60 countries and 28 languages. Dating back to 2004, Indeed has always strived to give people free access to job listings near them.

Indeed offices are located all over the world. The company is originally US-based, and it has US offices in Seattle, Stamford, New York, Austin, San Francisco, and San Mateo. Internationally, there are offices in London, Toronto, Tokyo, Paris, Zurich, Dublin, Amsterdam, Hyderabad, and Dusseldorf.

Indeed Visa Sponsorship

If you are looking to work with Indeed on an H1b sponsorship basis, they filled out 713 applications for H1b visa and 110 certifications for green cards between 2018 – 2020, so it certainly is possible to work with Indeed on those terms.

Indeed work from home policy

At the moment, employees are working from home. Some will return to the office in July 2021 but Indeed intends to have a hybrid work from home policy, offering its employees the flexibility to work both at home or in the office, depending on what they desire.

When and where Indeed open for new hiring

Indeed hire throughout the year, but look out for jobs, especially in September and January – this is when there is a significant global hiring push, which means that there are more jobs at Indeed!

You’ll find Indeed jobs at all of their offices, but their most prominent offices (which will have the most opportunities) are in Stamford, Connecticut, and Austin, Texas.

Interview Process Shared by Professionals on Blind

Indeed has a complete internal referral system; if you are not really close to anyone in Indeed, you can ask for Indeed referral like this user on Blind did (Indeed/Atlassian Referral Needed). The internal recruiting coordinator will reach you first and move you forward to the recruiters. Also, the interview process will take a relatively long time and more rounds since it’s a global company.

“If you get through a phone screen, then next you get a design problem talking about a/b testing around email marketing newsletter. Next 4-6 interviews Amazon/Uber style.” (Indeed user, Indeed Product Management Interview)

“1 hackerrank round for 90 mins, 2 whiteboards, 1 code review, 1 design, 1 resume deep dive.”(Microsoft user, Indeed onsite interview)

“I interviewed for a PM role at Indeed about a month ago. After the hiring manager’s call, their on-site was unique. It was 2 hours. The first hour is you reading then working on a prompt / product case type question. The second hour is you presenting your work to a group of individuals. In my experience, it was an Execution type case, and there were 5 PMs in the group of various levels. I heard they were changing the style but was not told when they would do that.”(Indeed PM Interview)

How to Prepare for Indeed interviews

Here are some tips on Blind from the Indeed employees and candidates which will help you prepare for your interview.

Indeed cares about the company culture since it’s a global company compare with other companies only dominant several markets. Take some time to think about the company’s purpose and ethos. For instance, on Indeed’s ‘about’ page, they say that they “strive to put job seekers first,” “provide free access,” and “connect millions of people to new opportunities.” Take a note of these attributes that Indeed credits to themselves, and make sure that you mention them during your interview.

Product roles in Indeed:

“ Brush up your A/B testing fundamentals and focus on simplicity. We value that in our hiring process. No other special prep is necessary.” (Indeed user, Indeed Karat Interview)

“The last round is considered in case you use the redo option. Also 2 questions of medium level based on string ds mostly. Like string manipulation etc. All the best.” (Indeed user, Indeed Product Management Interview)

Technique roles in Indeed:

It’s just easy/medium leetcode like parentheses matching or rotating a matrix or whatever. But they did make it progressive so that it could be a hard/optimal solution at the third step.(JP Morgan Chase user, Indeed Karat Interview)

“Indeed interview is hard. No idea why we set the bar that high. For me, it was Google, Facebook > Indeed, Uber > Microsoft, Amazon. The coding problem would be medium to hard but not the tricky ones. We don’t ask those fancy algorithm one. If you code daily and encounter real-world problems, the whiteboard should be straightforward.”(Indeed user, Indeed onsite interview)

“I interviewed in Austin about a year ago for senior, no offer. It wasn’t easy. The only interview I’ve ever had that was more difficult as Google, and not much. Indeed has lots of ex-Googlers. Coding exercises will probably be leetcode hards, good luck. Code review interview is easy. Just read some bad code and provide actionable feedback.” (Amazon user, Indeed onsite interview)

“Like other tech giants, Indeed also need team matching. Some users are stuck in team matching and seeking help on Blind. “(JP Morgan Chase user, Waiting for a team match after the interview at Indeed)

Indeed company culture

There is a laid-back atmosphere at Indeed. Somebody describes the working culture as “like Microsoft with free food and better perks!”. It has also been praised for its transparency, with one employee commenting how even during the pandemic, Indeed has made an effort to keep in touch with its employees and know how the company is changing and evolving.

Other employees praise the working culture, with lots of perks and compensation, although many people note how they wish it could be more prestigious – it isn’t as much as other companies like Google and Apple.

However, there are some criticisms about the lack of long-term growth. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a ton of opportunities for growth within the company, and salary doesn’t rise all that much with promotions.

That being said, they are a very stable company and few redundancies. People are always looking for jobs, so people will always be using Indeed! In addition, their parent company, Recruit, is under no pressure to save any costs.

Some voice from Indeed professionals on Blind:

“Culture is laid back and growth depends on the team. IMO Indeed is like Microsoft with free food and better perks but less prestige(at least on Blind).” (Indeed user, Indeed interview)

“I’m very happy in Indeed. Great colleagues, mission, perks, compensation, and benefits. I wish it was more prestigious though.”(Indeed user, Indeed interview)

“Come for work-life balance. Don’t come for long term TC (total compensation) growth. The LTIPs stuff means low total compensation when you get promoted.”(Indeed user, culture and growth at Indeed)

“Org is very stable financially. I don’t think indeed ever laid off, and i don’t think we will do anytime soon. Parent company Recruit has tons of money and in no pressure to squeeze any cost savings.”(Indeed user, Work culture in Indeed)
