Is the future in-office?

Although some of the first companies to adopt remote work, tech companies have been on a real estate spending spree in the last two years. Amazon, DoorDash and Robinhood expanded offices in Tempe, Arizona, while Google, Meta and Microsoft leased or bought hundreds of thousands of square feet in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh, Austin, Texas, and even London.

Commercial real estate won’t be the only thing affected by a return to the office. Check out the discussion on the impact on housing prices on Blind.

Massages are back!

Googlers can celebrate! The tech giant’s famous perks, including massages, free food and shuttle service, are coming back. The campus will be open for hybrid work soon, which also means the fitness center, game rooms and lounges are ready to be enjoyed again.

Find out why some technologists on Blind still don’t want to go back.

More ways for your kids to spend money

Parents be warned: Chipotle, Forever 21 and Nike have opened stores in Roblox’s kid-friendly metaverse. Chipotle gave away coupons for free burritos redeemable in the real world to the first visitors of its virtual restaurant, and you can now buy even more branded digital clothes.

Another NFT scam

About $1.7 million of digital tokens were stolen from users of the NFT marketplace OpenSea. Attackers sent phishing emails with instructions for a migration process, which ended up being a blank-check contract that transferred NFTs away for free. Some technologists on Blind see a trend with the attack.

Where tech companies are really hiring

Silicon Valley may be home to most tech companies, but a new analysis found they’re increasingly hiring in Atlanta, Denver, New York, Washington, D.C., and Austin, Texas. Texas is the No. 1 state for new tech jobs, followed by Virginia, New York, Georgia and Massachusetts.
