Meta has the big advantage that they will get everyone to use it. Not just gamers. Apple could complete there but you just know they will come up with something that is unaffordable for most people.

Unaffordable, yes Desirable, also yes

Why do you think Sony or Chinese OEMs can't compete on price with Meta? Assuming game studios make platform compatible content for Sony/Chinese OEMs/others

Expedia Group rhxyncb Feb 22, 2022

A lot of it will end up running in the aws , so amazon is the biggest winner.

Who cares about the stock if metavers comes to exist. Even if FB dies trying, it sped up the whole industry by many years.

Amazon 🧐 curious OP Feb 22, 2022

Meta has already taken ahold of the VR market in a very short time. I don't think any other company will spend as much money making the metaverse happen as Meta; either the other companies are much smaller and have a lot less money, or they have other main businesses to worry about. Meta is the only massive company fully invested in Metaverse. Meta will be the fastest in the Metaverse space, and if they're smart (and they are), they will do what's necessary to make it difficult for users to switch to other providers, similar to how it is difficult to switch away from Facebook. I'm not saying it's gonna be all roses for Meta. It'll be very tough. But they definitely have a good path to success if they achieve adoption faster and sooner than others, and if they lock enough users in. I think they will spend enough money to make this happen.

Personally, I don't see why anyone below Director level gives a shit which company wins (besides stock implications, I guess). If you like AR/VR, then just go work on it at whichever company and if you believe that a different company will win just go there. More companies competing in the AR/VR space just means that your specific experience working on that will be in more demand. It's good for ICs as a whole
