Compensation in the Netherlands is decent, beautiful office in Amsterdam, and good socializing events in the office. Free cookies. Dog days once a month. Some colleagues are talented and friendly.
Ended up in the most toxic cesspit of my whole career. I would strongly suggest to avoid design teams in the coworker domain, as the domain leader has no experience working in product companies and is extremely toxic. No onboarding. No feedback. No documentation. No team rituals. No budget for user research. No design system. No clearly stated expectations. No regular communication and alignment with the product teams. No seat at the table with senior leadership. No projects that could have impact and be actually shipped (most work is copy pasting previous solutions). What did we have? Toxic backstabbing that bloomed as the leadership with no tech background had no idea how to measure performance. So it all became about backstabbing and boot licking. The culture reminded me what I’ve been hearing in regards to Amazon - well at least IKEA managed to match it’s retail competitor in one thing :D
Autonomous freight trucks with a backup driver will trek nearly 300 miles from an Ikea warehouse to a store.
The discount model of Swedish home furnishing company Ikea appears to be facing strain as the prices of some of its products have risen by 80% in the U.K.
