So me and my wife have been debating for a long time now whether to purchase a luxury car or not . We have a 2016 Honda City right now and it is in a perfectly good condition. We are based out of Gurgaon right now and wondering if luxury cars are worth in India . We have a good amount of money saved and I dont think affordability is an issue . Also I get the depreciating asset thing but we worked our ass off in our teens and 20s and I feel we can buy a luxury car now . What do you guys think? Are these luxury cars worth getting on Indian Roads? Are they a waste of money? Also if someone has some advice for which cars to look for and which brands to avoid, please feel free to comment down below(Budget is not an issue but 1 cr should be good enough). I have personally shortlisted BMW X5 , Porsche Macan , Mercedes GLE and Volvo XC90. Tax Household TC - 3 cr #tech #car
Be smart and buy a pre owned one. The latest cars are overpriced with minimal features nowadays (including the flagship brands). You can find many new pre owned cars for way cheaper price, which saves you a way lot of money. On the other side, you ca only flex the car for one or two days to people, otherwise it will be staying somewhere in corner of parking space. India is not a country where you can find a lot of car freaks where you can talk about it a lot. Also checkout proratacar.com
Thanks for your advice! , Appreciate it. I have heard good things about some brand known as Big Boy Toys something , Planning a visit to their showroom in Delhi soon. Also have heard about some good showrooms for preowned luxury cars in Delhi , Not sure though about the conditions and the genuineness of the products they sell . Will consider this option as well , Thanks!
Good tc op.. if you donāt mind sharing your tc breakup and yoe?
UPDATE - Me and my wife test drove GLE,X5 and Discovery . For our purpose hands down GLE was the best . Went to some prepowned showrooms as well , cars seemed very pricey . Finally booked GLE 300d today itself!!, Fingers crossed as this will be our first luxury car . It was a tough decision for us as we havent spent so much money on a depreciating asset till now but we felt that we should do it this time, Hoping for the best
Congrats and enjoy buddyšš
Thanks mate!
Your yoe and is that your success e and your CTC or we taking about a family?
Have provided the tc breakup in one of the replies to a comment on the post. This is mine + wifeās TC
I would say just avoid this if possible , these TC's are short lived , save and accumulate for an early retirement as you never know the sustainability of this income. Also can I ask you if you have already purchased a house in Gurgaon?
Merc GLEfor space and luxury. BMW x5 for drive feeling. Luxury features are not that great in this. Xc90 is not good w.rt engine issues. Porsche mecan legroom is less
Thanks for the response! , Appreciate it. I am not really into Sedans because Gurgaon has waterlogging issues and i dont want the car get submerged into water from slight rains , hence looking for cars with good ground clearance. How about Range Rovers? Discovery , Evoque etc?
Here is order for engine quality and maintenance ( left is better) Merc , bmw > Porsche > Range Rover > Volvo. For luxury: Range Rover > Porsche > merc > Volvo > bmw. I would be merc gle among all. If you want something different: go with discovery.
