For most engineers senior level could be a terminal level. For folks who have consistently seen career growth as an engineer in Tech, how have you managed to get promotion or/and exceeds expectations performance rating? Please share your strategy or game plan. TIA!#tech

Be it Engineer or manager, the more you go up in the ladder it's not just about you anymore. You need to make visible differences around you..for ex you should be responsible for others growth, you come up with a completely new perspective and influence others.. so basically you should not think about your growth anymore and it becomes natural 😀
I have promoted a lot engineers to staff level. Few main things to consider. 1. Identify projects that will meaningful make an impact for the organization. Things that people will notice and moves up any key metric. 2. Own the project in terms of leadership, building alignment, architecture, delegation. 3. Do couple of those and you will have a strong case. If your manager can’t get you promoted after that then change the team. 4. Make sure to keep your calm in incidents etc and don’t be an asshole with others.
Understand what the expectations for the next level are. Find projects/opportunities that have enough scope to meet those expectations. Perform.
