About 3 months ago I applied for Meta rotational engineer. I scheduled a mock interview a week later and my actual phone screen a week after that. I did pretty well on my mock, but i did get some negative feedback from the interviewer which helped put me in touch with the fact that I needed to study harder. I kept the phone screen date, but I just pushed it harder till the day before my phone screen. I passed the phone screen. I was asked one medium and one hard. I then scheduled my on-site 2 months later so I could study. I then discovered educative io neatcode on YouTube. I watched a hand full of neatcode tutorials. Found him very useful for understanding things that didn't quite make sense at first. Though him I discovered educative.io I took the coding interview patterns course, and did more leetcode. I watched a few system design mocks on YouTube, but as someone who's been involved with architecture early on on my career found it not to be very challenging. I cracked 190 leetcodes. including the graph, recursion, and DP explore cards.. Other than explore cards i mostly stuck to the daily challenges and sort by frequency FB last 6 mo. EDIT: forgot to mention I practiced each question as if it were live interview to the best of my ability. I'd read the question out load. then think out loud about what I thought I should do. Then I would code and talk my way through each problem. Come interview time, it felt almost as if I were just coding by myself. My on-site was pretty good, but i did a follow up coding as I did not finish one of the problems in time. I was asked 1 med and 1 hard both coding rounds. my follow up was two mediums both with follow up questions but no coding required that made them both hards. Thankfully I didn't have to code them as time would have not been on my side. I ended up getting E-4 offer. Initial offer was 260k TC remote. I negotiated and got 350K remote without competing offers. Feeling pretty good. If you have questions, feel free to ask. I probably did way less leetcode than I should have, but honestly the pattern course from groking was pretty clutch. Once I took that, I almost immediately started cracking every medium I tried during my studying. Like I said, feel free to ask questions. YOE 3.5 Old TC 240K New TC 351k 175/400/ 50 sign on 15% target.
Awesome job
What was your approach to negotiating given no other offers?
I said no. I make almost that now. Recruiter was extremely helpful. Asked for supporting docs and then got back to me next day with offer I accepted. edit: forgot to mention she asked my number i said 320. So she beat it first year comp. I was happy with it and felt that it was good enough for me to not feel jaded so I signed.
Congrats π
Op I thought meta doesn't give rsu to rotational swe? Did they change that policy?
Correct, no stonks for rotational.. I got an E-4 offer. If you crack the behavioral and the system design, you can get E-4. I almost got E-5, but HC decided on 4.
Congrats
