Take a lower offer?

I've got a verbal confirmation on an offer from comp A. But the CTC is lower than my current, and no rsus. They want me to negotiate, before rolling out and offer. I've been unemployed for 5months. What should I do? Budget is 40l. Hybrid. ------- Product manager. 15yrs toe.

You’ve been unemployed for 5 months? I’m assuming your total comp is $0, right?

Yes. For now.

If I was in your shoes, I would take the offer, start the job here but won't stop the search until I get a satisfactory offer.

How will it impact in future?

Why would it impact your future? Is it a company that will look bad on your resume? Have you switched a lot of companies in the past? If neither, nobody would care. When interviewing after joining you can always mention one reason or another for a quick switch. I have interviewed people who may have joined another company around the time of the interview and that has never played part in whether they are hired or not. It all comes down to how the interview went.

Atleast they are expecting you to negotiate. So why not do it and agree on something. Don't be too pushy with your current status...

They are not negotiating. Instead using my layoff to their advantage.

Do you have any other interviews happening concurrently or in pipeline? It is tough market. Even after attending full loop doesn't guarantee an offer on the table as companies literally have multiple candidates to choose from... So depending on how much is the gap in base offered, if it is acceptable considering your personal situation, accept it. However keep looking for other opportunities. You can make a next move in another 6 months from this company.
