Hey, I’m reading the Working Backwards book. How much of it is accurate or inaccurate? For example, is single-threaded leadership and focus on autonomy something that is still consistently practiced at the company?
So would you say your manager has more than 1 top priority? What about yourself?
And when it comes to autonomy, they in the book mean it in a slightly different way than is usually thought of. They’re talking mostly about avoiding dependencies and letting teams own their destiny, so to speak.
I am seeing a lot of top down approaches here and very low appetite for risk. So to your question they don't let teams decide their destiny, it was already written on stone
I mean, do you have to depend on a bunch of teams to make progress on your own goals?
If you were at Amazon, that is.
I assume at Apple it is similar to Microsoft (and to most places).
Not really
