Going end of November, about 1-1.5 weeks total. Going to Sydney because it's the most famous city in Australia, and Cairns to see Great Barrier Reef. Any tips and recommendations welcome.
Did exactly the same last year and it was worth it.
It is often cheaper to fly through Fiji and if you have Alaska miles you might get business class. Fiji stopover can be a good idea. If you do, go to one of the islands nearby - they have amazing blue water and your perfect tropical island atmosphere.
Sydney has a lot to see, you can just look up on Google.
Cairns is great, definitely have a snorkel tour to thd outer reef. We did and it was fantastic: lots of awesome fish, beautiful coral and even some crazy clam shells the size of a person and even small sharks lol. Double check about swimming in Cairns as some sort of jelly fish comes over so you can only swim within a net.

End of November is in the box jelly season. I’d stay out of the water if I were you. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Box_jellyfish
