Anyone work with them? Curious what riot is like. Anyone worked with the valorant team?

What do you want to know.

Pros and cons, what’s the daily work like, how’s the team culture, how do problems get resolved, is there a seniority issue where lower ranks don’t have a voice, etc.

Daily life is 8 hour of intense work that involves plenty of collaboration. You’ll have to reach horizontally and vertically across your organization. You will only like to work here if you understand your hard skills are just another tool of being a game developer, which involves many more things. Team culture varies per game. We also have R&D projects. Some games have big teams and some small. Valorant culture is good. It’s a bit scrappy sometimes. Devs look happy and engaged. Problems get resolved through a lot of talking and alignment. The company is always evolving it’s processes and team structure. Riot is a mix of bottoms up and top down decision making. They don’t ignore the lower ranks. They are more heard than at other companies. We have OKRs. However, if you have a battling, privileged type of personality (even if you are right) you will likely be ignored. Sometimes we hire people with a lot of passion that somehow make it through the filter with low EQ, creating drama because “they are not being heard “. Expect being ignored if you have this type of personality. For those that have good ideas and know how to collaborate in peace, the doors will open for you. This requires mental maturity

+ It’s not easy to get in. We do some heavy vetting consisting on technical, emotional and other. +We do not do referrals for people we have not worked with before. Our system require us to know someone personally. +Riot is best for people that enjoy collaboration. Meetings, alignments , slack. Riot is a bottoms up type of organization. That means you must have some decent social skills to communicate and sync more frequently than perhaps other companies. + Did I mention collaboration? Double that. + valorant is a new game. Expect even more collaboration. + Salaries are not as high as FAANG, but higher than most other game companies + riot is not a place for people that say “That shouldn’t be my job”, people that want a routine given, or that think their way is better because they worked in FAANG. + riot is not for 100% remote people. You still need to go to the office once in a while. + Do not join an engineering org non-related to games, expecting to swap later to a gameplay. Apply for roles which you are satisfied with. + your offers from other companies do not play heavily in Riot making a higher offer. The expressed ranges in our online jobs is accurate. + unlimited PTO, and generally managers will not question you being out if you are sick. If you are not taking days off, it’s likely your manager at Riot will say something during the 1-1. + we hire slower than tech, because we rarely do layoffs. Recent layoffs from publishing are rare. Layoffs from games are even more rare. We plan every headcount very carefully. Which has also consequences: your team might be a skeleton crew, and you will likely have to stretch your capabilities further then before. We do our best to work 40s.

I might be interviewing soon, any tips on interviewing and for the soft skills interview prep?

Meta nClp58 Mar 13, 2023

Isn't that the place full of sexual harassment where they fart on peoples faces?

Riot Games nicolol Mar 13, 2023

The company has problems in 2018. I personally have not been witness to either farts or sexual harassment in the past 2 years. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/28/business/riot-games-gender-discrimination-case.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

Glad to hear it! Probably would be the first company I've heard of that was actually able to make a change.

I heard that Riot Games has a pet falcon and a bourbon club! Are both of these points true?
