Is Scale AI CEO another racists/MAGA?
Why ? Was it a propaganda by govt to suck out life energy of it’s citizens to make country rich with taxes ? Was it a propaganda by companies such as Fidelity so that we continue to pile $$ into 401k and they become cash rich ? Was it a propaganda by enterprises so they can find productive employees for long while they keep making billions and now a days trillions ? Was it the employee themselves who have no clue what to do with their time and energy beyond what they are trained well to do since childhood. I.r work for corporations ? Who came up with 60 ?
Most people aren't wealthy enough to retire at 60 or even 65. SWE is an exception. How would you retire at 50 if you were working for 30-50k per year?
Because half a century ago you were supposed to die in your early 60s Retirement is a recent thing and not the norm for the vast majority of human history
So you were expected to work till you die *sigh*. Good that they didn’t extend the retirement date to 70s as life expectancy improved. !
@Blend, I disagree. See this -- https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashrama_(stage)
Agreed, the number one reason I hear is due to healthcare. I am planning on retiring at 45
Lots of people only work for healthcare which kicks in during 60s, could afford to retire otherwise
Yep. I’m 58 and working until 65 when Medicare clicks in.
Great question. I think its because at 60 you become useless to corporations. Screw the government and status quote, Im gonna retire early.
Oh man! What has changed since then ? Doesn’t look like anything
Less than 1% of Americans are able to retire before 50 and <20% are able to before 60, many can't afford to retire at all. I think it's partly that the middle class has been hollowed out since taxation changes in the 80's, with the top 1% taking an ever growing share of wealth and income. In part, it's also that many people have low savings rates and live beyond their means or simply aren't financially literate.
Fair enough. Updated the title
