Anyone heard engineering at Qualia? (startup focusing on real estate closing platform)
Hi, anybody have insight on Qualia SWE interviews? What to expect in the first technical interview?
Building web apps with the engineer. Leans a little web dev heavy. You still in the process?
I’m not honestly if I knew the interview was going to be like that I would’ve prepped differently and definitely been able to do it Makes no sense not to be transparent
Terrible company to work for. Co-workers are all right but it’s a bro club and management is phenomenally bad
Can you explain more? How bad is it in engineering? What are the issues you'd be dealing with? I've had red flags show up in the interviews (low energy, no FAANG/big-logo hires in interview loop, low level of compassion from management roles, etc.) but I'm trying to assess what's going on. They keep saying only a few people have left engineering in years - so, it's hard to understand if that's a lie or what's going on.
Low attrition is a fact, you can see that on LinkedIn, you can also see that much of the talent on the team is homegrown, so no FAANG/big logo team members. Smaller startups who are non-FAANG to begin with often don't pursue FAANG talent for lots of reasons. Check out their Glassdoor profile, you may get some more insight there. Finally talk to your recruiter - or talk to the hiring team with your concerns, just don't call them red flags :)
Bumping this thread. Any comments on Qualia as a company to work for?
I joined as a Senior Recruiter 1+ month ago. The eng team is incredibly hard working and friendly. That being said, they do make an effort to give engineers appropriate breaks when needed. Open PTO policy too, which is nice. I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far. The office is quiet but as they scale the team (70ish by mid year 2020) I’m sure it’ll liven up a bit.
