I am feeling sad about layoffs in tech and would want to help guys with limited H1B time. So I went ahead and messaged 15+ laid off software engineers on linkedin about jobs/ referrals, but only 4 ever replied back to me. That’s weird! EDIT: Just wanted to share my experience, that’s it! Still helping folks who need it. Sorry if it has hurt someone. My employers isn’t hiring right now due to holidays but things will pick up again next year. We surely will be needing Senior and Principal Engineers. Those who have DMed me, I will update you whenever things change. Sorry can’t help much right now. I hope y’all get new stable jobs soon. Peace, help and spread love! YOE: 10 TC: 310 #tech #layoffs #softwareengineer
They didn't like your company
This☝️☝️
Even if that’s the case, that’s still rude. They should at least have the courtesy to reply someone who’s trying to help them
I got laid off and would love to apply to your company
It's possible they just don't check LinkedIn - I know I don't lol
But if OP is aware that they were laid off, then chances are they went on LinkedIn to post about it or do something that identified them as individuals who have been laid off. So if they're invested in LinkedIn enough to do that, why would they not check their LinkedIns? It's definitely very possible, but kind of weird LOL
I m glad you check blind more frequently than linkedin.
They might be going through a lot, Just give without expecting. Life becomes simpler

I got laid off as well. I vouch for this. We really aren’t in that mindset at least for the first couple of days.
People are being scammed to death. I know I’m sick of it, esp if you are a URM (like I think many H1Bs are)—recruiters are trying to hit their company/govt quotas with lots of fake job opptys. It’s exhausting and depressing. It’s hard to tell what’s real anymore. I was one of those people who was going to power through the rest of the year with my job search. But because it’s become such a GD circus and so ridiculous, I have no choice to suspend it. So—give people a break is all I’m saying. It’s a jungle out here.
H1Bs are not URMs, they are literally over represent in the industry by every metric.
@Time2Quit "by every metric" makes it sound like you have some data you can point to. ... do you?
I did the same thinking of helping them. But, no one responded. Just ignore!
Same thing happened to me also. They just ignore.
Are we implying here that they like to post that sad post begging for help that goes viral but they actually don’t follow up when the help is coming?
Laid off employees, especially from FAANG, are already getting plenty of pity from everybody else and are likely getting showered with interviews. It's the rest of the chumps you should sympathize with, since they're having to compete against FAANG veterans
This is the real answer. People need to stop giving ALL your sympathy to laid off Meta/Amazon/ etc. there have been thousands of people laid off from companies that are series D or earlier, talented developers a lot of the time who just got unlucky
People with a single brain cell know this. OP probably has half a brain cell.
Too bad YOU didn’t reply to me
Haha yeah, op complaining about no replies, meanwhile (I assume you DMd op) he never responded to you. Shows where they are coming from
There’s nothing called reply back
Actually, you mean to say it's redundant
Just like the role of people that got laid off. OMG it's all connected !!! (I'm just kidding, stay strong people)
