How's Biogen as a place to work right now with all the aduhelm craziness etc?
How about any sense of next hopes for the company? Or does it feel a bit like make or break with aduhelm? I'm considering a position, want to make sure I wouldn't be jumping into a toxic mess.
I wouldn't say it's the end of the world yet. Aduhelm is definitely a make or break product, the company was fully expecting it to drive tremendous growth through this decade. Without it, they're definitely in trouble. But they are also working on diversifying their portfolio in other ways - acquisitions, and a pipeline. They recently sold their piece of Samsung Bioepis for $2 billion. There's definitely a strategy to survive. The culture has been great for me personally. I think if you are able to get through this year with the company without being sacked you'll be fine. That's the only risk - will they possibly let you go in the short term? I would hope not, especially if they're hiring you in the first place. But it also isn't unheard of. Speak to the hiring manager and be frank about your concern.
Great feedback, thanks!
There's a lot of anxiety of course due to incoming layoffs. We don't know if we will have our jobs or not, but hoping for the best. As a place to work I've always enjoyed working here. Like any company, your experience can vary based on your department and boss, but for me it has been great. The benefits are spectacular, lots of little perks, and company generally takes good care of employees.
