Applied to the new grad / entry level data science position through reference, a recruiter reached and asked 1. Coding language preferences and expertise level AND asked me to rate on 1 to 10 for proficiency level. I said 7/10 for python and sql 2. Asked about previous analytics experiences and summary About projects 3. Asked location preferences I said I'm open to relocation anywhere 4. Resume related questions like no of yrs exp , degree etc... After a week she replied although ur experience and skills are impressive we dont have projects suitable to your background I mean the experience and skills are transferable I dont understand how one can have exact experience base on their projects and requirements .. π
They reach out to a lot of people and they choose some of them to continue the process with. No different than any other company. At least you got a reply. A lot of recruiters are worse than useless and wonβt.
I agree. And they have hundreds of resumes. They need data points to select one over others. If someone has better/relevant projects, he gets a preference. They cant interview all applicants.
You may have said something wrong, but also it is March and we are nearly through with phd hiring for 2020 given that we started last year.
It was email communication not phone call
