Lately, many of my covid test claims got declined. I usually take RTPCR covid tests (cost 150-250usd) once a month as precautionary measure!! And when claims (out of network) are submitted, Aetna is rejecting saying these tests are done for employment, work, school or travel purposes!! I pay almost 160usd/month for family plan thru employer and find it frustrating to see claims getting rejected. Wats ur expr been? #medical #insurance #covid19
Why are you getting expensive ass out of network tests when I’m sure you have several in-network (potentially free) options?
I do now wit Walgreens (free of cost), but my 7-8 month old (arnd Jan-Apr) ones were with out-of-nkt ! That time it wasn't easy to find in-nkt. Be it out or in nkt, It feels frustration to see claims denied for ridiculous reasons, even after passing almost 2000 usd in insurance!!
The regularity of your testing is probably what makes them think it’s for work. I believe most insurers changed their out of network reimbursement to cover only symptoms or potential exposure
Go to your local authority and say you've been exposed. This won't even be a lie, unless you're living under a rock, I guarantee you have been exposed (you might have mitigated the risk by getting vaccinated, wearing a mask, etc.., but that doesn't change the fact that you are exposed probably once a week). My local authority (NYC) doesn't even ask you why you're getting tested. Once they have paid to setup the labs and the staffing, the incremental cost of a test is almost nothing to them. Even if the insurance company pays back like $20, they're in the green. They want people to come and get tested.

Why do you get tested so often? The test is invasive and can lead to infections. Plus, you probably increase your risk of being in contact with sick people by going to test centers. Side question: what do you do with all that time you save by using abbreviations?
Get prior approval for out of network claims. Or, provide them proof that the tests were not for the reasons that they rejected the claim.
So you go once a month and expose yourself to infectious people because you want peace of mind ? I don’t understand the logic on this….
The Federal governing is paying for testing. Go to your county’s testing site and don’t give your insurance info - I learned this from a worker at the site.
Stop wasting resources and time.
Used them once for non covid test and rejected .. it's the only test I did in the whole year .. I feel it was a scam insurance and I'm not sure what why I'm paying for it if I will end up paying for my test anyway .. switched them the first time I had a chance
How to switch, if employer plan is with Aetna?? I find this is sham and ridiculous, m sure there will b much better and cheaper insurance companies!!
When I relocated to California Facebook offered me either aetna or kaiser .. I choose Kaiser .. if your employer only offer Aetna you're stuck unfortunately
