and progressives still think they can tax their way to prosperity…
Funny, I have a coworker who just moved from Florida to NY because they could not stand the heat there.
I’m in Texas and cannot wait to get out of here and move to NYC.
Florida is a pretty decent state that gets a lot of hate but has plenty to do if you look close enough. Earlier this year, I went to NY, visiting Manhattan and the area around Times Square including the Marina. Sadly, the trip was incredibly expensive—upwards of $5K with all things considered. I originally considered trying to make it in the city due to my peers on Blind experiencing a high quality social life and a lot of the things I lack in my life (namely romance and TC)—however, based on my housing needs, I would have had to commute from NJ or live in a 1B1R apartment that’s compact and not spacious at all for everything I have. Even on my meager $100K salary (excluding yearly bonus), Florida has more affordable housing and friendlier tax laws that make living better. Aside from the gross car dependency, you’re always next to the beach or close to pretty decent tourist traps where you can really spend your time and experience the nightlife. That, and you have pretty decent access to the rest of the country and Europe if you need to leave. The state has its flaws, but it’s a lot better than people make it out to be. Gross car dependency? 😆 shaking my head. You can bike everywhere if you do find it gross. No one is holding a gun to your head.
Fun fact, this is why people leave these big cities. Not that they’ve become morally revolted by them, because the social life is great but owning a house is more important.
These headlines are always so funny. Unfortunately not reality at all, traffic is still too damn high in the good states.
This is nothing burger. The article says net migration to Florida and Texas was 4k within the 26-35 demographic earning over 200k. Sounds impressive until you realize Florida and Texas have millions on people in this demographic each.
It does make a difference as states like NY, CA, IL, NJ, CT, etc are bankrupt with public pension debt. As the high earners move, the local government have to raise taxes on those left behind and also cut public services. Why do you think real estate taxes are astronomically high in IL and NJ? CA is lucky that, decades ago, they had passed a proposition that prevented large increase in real estate taxes. It is going to get read bad. We have not seen anything yet. Gird your loins.
Fortune, and a lot of news places, find that the most clicked on articles are those that confirm people's biases instead of providing information. So the right wing will feel warm and fuzzy. And no, it's not just the right. Other news articles will have the exact same headline except that millennials are flocking to blue states due to the abortion rulings, and the left will get a warm sense that they are superior. People don't like to be told information, they want to be told they are right.
I think the best states are purple. You want a balance, not extreme red or blue.
Which is the best purple state?
Ohio 😁
No surprise considering housing prices in the Bay Area
Not a single person here in Cali. I haven’t seen anyone for days, now I know why.
Do the ones left behind identity as non human? 🙂
Do any of us other than Elon?
I’m sure a lot of people want to live in California they just can’t afford to
I wouldn't be sure at all. Every single day, I get videos from SF and LA about retail stores looted by gangs, cars with broken windows, or lawless groups doing car donuts. Many with families do not want to live in wild wild west of modern day.
Ah right, because CA is solely made of SF and LA and theres no crime in Texas or Florida. You’ve got to be trolling and it’s not particularly convincing
Good. Turn these states blue!
Hell no
