There are many companies in past like IBM, Nokia, GoPro that were trying innovative products but somehow failed. Some one else took those ideas, built successful companies. Is Metaverse one of such ideas? I would love to live in the Inception like dream world, overcome physical limits, create or experience something magical.
Make no mistake, the Metaverse wouldn’t get 1/10th of the hate it’s getting right now if it was a project led by Microsoft/Google. The metaverse-hate became a hot trend because they chose to announce it at a peak controversy-time last Fall (too convenient). People don’t hate the idea, they hate the company leading it
False, Google and Microsoft have tried it already through Daydream and Hololens respectfully. Both were nowhere near what they expected. The main difference is the arrogance of FB.
Meta has an absurd talent pool but they’re backed into a corner. FB is too far gone, nobody under 30 gives a shit about it. IG is still relevant but faces competition. WhatsApp doesn’t get much traction domestically. Zucc searching for a new avenue had a good idea, but VR and AR isn’t cool enough yet to penetrate, and people don’t trust FB
I think Roblox is building a good Metaverse ..
I think it’s gonna be the opposite, they have talented engineers, developers and designers, they’ll make it look awesome. The problem is the idea of the metaverse and the way they are getting into, I have serious doubts of how many people and businesses would like to go into a virtual reality world in the way they plan to. This is Meta, not a promising startup… they don’t need millions of users, they need billions of monetizable daily users to get any ROI or growth.
Yup, essentially they want the whole world to play Second Life while wearing a Face Hugger (from Alien). Not gonna happen 😄
Exactly, something that I doubt will happen specially was more mental health awareness campaigns happen, which will only harm (rightly) the mass idea of the metaverse
