Interested to learn more about AMP and their culture. Specifically interested in Digital Supply Chain team. TC: 330k @Apple
Chiiillllll aaaaaffffff
Most teams / products that have been around for a long time would tend to have a great WLB, generally true as a rule of thumb anywhere. Now with Apple you would have older technologies/stack/approaches used since they have been ground tested for years to work (just saying work, not work great). The internal tooling generally tends to be lackluster, for example - if you’re used to 3rd party toolset for Observability, Logs Monitoring, Analytics such as Datadog / Cloudwatch / etc, you will find the internal tooling sucks compared to these. You will have to take a longer / roundabout way to get things you want from the tools. Now to the good part - Customer Impact. If this is something you care about, you’ll have opportunities around it and Apple holds high standards in thinking through privacy, usability, and other aspects and does not rush a product half assed. Overall - if you want to focus on good WLB and want to have customer impact, this will be great. If you want to focus on learning best engineering / technologies, you might have better opportunities elsewhere.
Thank you for this info! Internal tools at Amazon are also not great tbh but having access to public ones like CloudWatch, CloudFront , CDK makes situation better. And what about promotion to ICT5? is it fucked up as L7 promo at Amazon?
Not as bad as L7 at amazon for sure, what’s your YOE? ICT5 is not about being technically the smartest rather playing your cards right by getting yourself in a bunch of projects where you become a point of contact to a level that if you’re on PTO it’d cause an impact. But end of day it depends on how good of a manager you have for ICT5 so make sure you’re getting good vibes from your hiring manager
It's team dependent but generally great in AMP
Digital Supply Chain - this is the team name (if i understand correctly)
I thought they changed the name, but nevertheless, it’s chill. Do you know the name of the director you’ll be under?
