Looking at some postings on LinkedIn. Senior Software Engineer Austin, TX (Remote) What does the city signify? Can those that don't live in Austin still apply? TC: 200k
It signifies pay! NY (remote) is gonna pay better than Austin (Remote).
Are you sure? If the candidate is in TX they won't be getting NY pay
I guess it depends. I've had interviews with companies that didn't adjust pay to location. They're usually above the national average ($160k+) but won't go into the highest pay levels).
We have seattle / fully remote positions which just means meetings are scheduled in pst and occasionally we may have people visit the Seattle office for in person meetings ( like .. once a year, it's nice to see people in person )
Ah so it means that theres a part of the team in Austin?
That's what it means for us .. probably varies between companies but basically if we're going to have an in person meeting it'll be in seattle .. if you want to work from Hawaii.. I hope you like waking up early :-)
In general you’ll be assigned to the Austin office but you will be remote. It doesn’t affect anything.
As of last year, there was a glitch in LinkedIn’s system. There’s actually town in Oregon called Remote. So if the recruiter only listed Remote, it would default to Remote, OR. I’m not sure if they’ve fixed it, but two companies that I’ve previously worked at had to pick a location and put Remote in parenthesis.
Probably where the team was originally based out of.
It's either SEO or a hard requirement. So they'll put up listings for all major metros. And some job boards need a city or they won't even list it.
Yes, those not in Austin can still apply. They just post a specific location so that they can get through to people who may have cities in their search filter. For example, I saw that Microsoft had posted the same job posting on LinkedIn for 10+ different cities. Just trying to make sure somebody searching for jobs in Atlanta has the same chance to see it as someone in Los Angeles.
Time zone
Yes , exactly . I have positions in Irvine , Seattle or any where remote in the US
