Apple ICT3 vs Microsoft L60

I am a NG, just completed my Masters. I have 2 fulltime offers, one from Apple's CoreOS and another from Microsoft Azure. I had accepted Apple but recently received the Microsoft one. Compensation details: Apple, Cupertino - 168k (base) + 30k (bonus) + 165k (RSU over 4 years) + 23k (relocation) Microsoft, remote from California - 140k (base) + 25k (bonus) + 110k (RSU over 4 yrs) * Work-wise: Both the managers seemed quite involved and excited about having me. I am excited about the team's work at Azure and it aligns more with what I wanted to do long-term. However, my Apple work is quite uninteresting to me and leans towards data engineering. I do not see myself being in either OS or data engineering long-term. * Internal Mobility: It also seems like internal mobility in Apple is not easy v/s Microsoft which seems to welcome it. * Visa issues: I am also an international candidate, heavily dependent on H1B and green card by sticking to a company until it resolves. Hence, it is critical for me to switch out of Apple soon. * Black-listing: Reneging Apple will blacklist me for the future, which I am comfortable with because it does not have a lot of teams of my interest. However, I am not sure how rejecting Microsoft affects my future opportunities there. Thoughts? I am quite torn and any other inputs would be highly appreciated. Edit: Any thoughts on potential layoffs at Microsoft?

Try and negotiate Microsoft's with Apple and sign Microsoft. 1. Refusing an offer the first time will never create issues. Those companies have a lot of applicants. They'll find someone else 2. Apple might blacklist though. Apparently they're very salty 3. Internal mobility is not as good inside MSFT. Basically you still have to do full loop but at least it's more open, meaning you can reach out to folks, learn about their work and see what you like 4. Yes MS is amazing for immigration. Nothing to say. Just the best 5. You have remote. I mean it's a no-brainer if that's something you care about

No one blacklists for refusing offers. Blacklist is a possibility only if candidates renege after signing offer.

They treat verbal acceptance on par with actually signing the offer in this regard.

Congrats! I keep hearing market is tough for new grads. But I see people are getting offers. Your offer are 200k+. Excellent for new grads

You will not be blacklisted at Apple if you let them know well ahead of joining time. Don’t know about Microsoft but Apple has lot of politics. Every team wants to do their own thing and does not collaborate with others. So most teams are operating at very small scale.

Negotiate up the stock and maybe signing for your Microsoft offer. Stock can go up to I think 175-180k. Realistically should be easy to get 150k as a l60 NG. I’d normally say take Apple, but based on your visa status and intent to move out. I’d say do Microsoft for 4 Edit: just notice you mentioned you already accepted Apple. Not worth reneging

Msft better for immigration. But Apple seems safer in terms of layoffs and stuff

How does your being dependent on H1B or green card need you to switch away from apple?

Amazon zoobi OP May 23

Getting picked for H1B ties me to the company until the petition is filed. Similarly, I ideally want to stick to a company once I start the green card process, which takes about ~1 - 1.5 years to complete. It doesn't need me to switch away, but it makes me want to switch sooner than later.

Makes sense. In that case since you're more inclined to Microsoft work, you can try negotiate the pay. And stay there
