Are H1B ppl stuck

No company is doing perm processing. So if we move company does 6 year rule come into effect? Will that window start fresh or existing years will count towards it 😟 So if we are in bad team or manager are we stuck for eternity

General Motors CxmR10 Apr 28

Why would you be stuck? Do you go to jail or are fined a ton of money if you quit?

Avis Budget Group DecayBoas Apr 28

OPTs are stuck harder than you.

Google bofebdbb Apr 28

Only if your i140 is not approved

Microsoft Minamato OP Apr 28

Mine is approved but if I move to google they need to do labor test again right. Which no one is doing now. Which means I can't move to google

Google bofebdbb Apr 28

You can still use old i140 for renewal

Salesforce ranger2 Apr 28

Old i140 is ok. You just need your current employer to be the sponsor when your date becomes current.

Medtronic DEXE58 Apr 28

If he is from India his date will Never be current

Salesforce ranger2 Apr 28

So why bother if Perm is filed again?

ServiceNow igfhhd Apr 28

You should be fine to switch. You employer should be able to file when your date becomes current

Microsoft Minamato OP Apr 28

I'm from India. My date will be current in 2080 (optimistic)

ex-Salesforce PapaJk Apr 28

Is 2080 too late or too early and you are not ready?

Microsoft Minamato OP Apr 28

I don't care for gc. Can I switch companies before 2080 . That's my question

Amazon NotAMZL Apr 29

Has Microsoft also paused PERM?

Amazon GDiS10 Apr 29

You can switch, no problem. Some companies (mostly startups) will have a problem if you are nearing your 6 year mark and do not have an approved I-140. If you have more than an year left, you should be good at most places.
