Needs improvement Forte rating

Unfortunately, I have gotten “needs improvement” rating in my latest forte and I feel super bad. But I want some realistic advice. As per the indications given by my manager, it does not seem like I am in FOCUS/Dev list or on the path to PIP. But I wanna know if there is a way that I can find out for certain? Ideally I would like to switch teams in an attempt to save my career at Amazon, and I also don’t want me manager to know of it. But I need to understand if I am on focus or in pip, before I do that. Should I talk to the HR? Would they be able to give me any insight? #pip #amazon #forte #needs_improvement #tech

HR is not your friend, HR is there to protect the company. Find a manager that makes your transition happen, otherwise your manager will put you on PIP immediately.

Need Improvement is the step towards FOCUS which is the path to PIP. You are already going down the step. > if there is a way that I can find out for certain? Nope. > Ideally I would like to switch teams in an attempt to save my career at Amazon, and I also don’t want me manager to know of it. Impossible. Your manager will know eventually and then accelerate the PIP. > Should I talk to the HR? HR is never on your side. Everything you interact with HR will almost always be used against you at some point. HR exists for the company. Not for you. These people are the worst and the most evil when it comes to being detrimental to one's own career. Advice I can give is leave Amazon asap.

I don’t know if URA quota is met or when it is met in an annual cycle. But if they need ura and you leave the company as LE, they may put you in focus to make you a ura exit. I could be wrong about it focus being used for ura this way though. So see other replies too. About focus, you can ask your manager directly. If you are on focus they are supposed to answer that question truthfully apparently.

I think you need to do four things. 1) shut down your personal life for a few months so you have more time to learn and make changes, 2) talk to your feedback providers to get more info, 3) find a mentor internally through inside, 4) start messaging hiring managers. 4 alone is not a good idea on its own. 80% of hiring managers want to see your forte and if they see that you’re done. 1/5 loops they won’t ask so if you get 10 shots you’ll convert on the transfer.

Not for good performers . Where constant and honest feedback is given at regular intervals. At Amazon it’s always a surprise. Good performers are thrown under the bus. Ex Amazon for 6 yrs. I know at Mets we have pip too . But you must really slack to get that
