I hear Hedge Funds salaries in London are insanely high (2S, Jane Street, Citadel, etc). Is it worth the move? #hedgefund #london #zurich #google #twosigma #citadel
London all the way. Google Zurich is the only option there while there are plenty of choices in London.
Folks who voted for G Switzerland, any insights? Thanks!
I think there's multiple considerations: 1. TC - HFT will easily outpay Google; a friend of mine had a ~600k offer (all cash, 50/50 split, incl. bonus) from one of the firms above before the war + inflation. A BigN engineer would hardly see such TC even with stock unless (1) there's a huge appreciation between the vesting and strike price or (2) they got lots of additional RSUs because of their performance / impact. 2. Location - I think Zurich > London is a much nicer city than London 3. Abundance of companies - Zurich/Switzerland has only few options for a big tech engineer (Apple, MSFT, Meta, Google, Nvidia, Yelp, eBay, Palantir), with the first three mostly hiring CV/ML/embedded engineers. London on the other hand has any company you can think of JFYI Few HFTs (ie Jump Trading, Citadel) have a small office in Switzerland too but it's not very public and they have a handful of employees. (mostly to cater to high value hires who wanted to stay there) I didn't vote in the poll but depends on the delta HFT / Google - if you would increase your comp by 50% it might be worth moving.
Thanks a lot for your reply. I am happy at Google now, but it is bugging me that I feel stuck here. How does WLB in HFTs look like?
Depends on the company, I have never worked for one of them. My friends work 40-50 hours at Jump, JS, and HRT. At Citadel a friend of mine does usually 50-60
define "insanely high"
Minimum 350k £. Jane Street and Citadel go above 500k £ I believe (senior level).
Is this for swe?
