I have a Google interview coming up in a few weeks, and my recruiter indicated that it would be held over Google Hangouts. Do they still use google docs for the coding assessment or have they switched to another platform? Thanks #swe #google #interview
Yes
Not for coding, in my case. Gave virtual on-site last week. Used Google doc for system design (which was bizarre when it came to diagrams). They use some interview tool (interview dot google dot com) which is like a minimal editor but with no code execution capabilities. Still 100x better than writing on google docs as it can indent and format properly.
You had an option of using it vs google docs? I heard for onsite they give option of using docs or this basic tool
Recruiter sent me email with links for each interview. The links for all coding interviews were for this tool. Only sys design and googleyness links were google docs, although only sys design interview actually ended up needing it.
Mine didn't. Might be up to the interviewer. Hope you don't get a boomer Doc developer.
I thought this was trolling. Are you guys serious
It’s serious.
Yep, still, I had interview with them last week.
Yes I do
I'm confused about all these people saying yes, I conduct SWE interviews at Google and I've never used Google docs. Theres a simple collaborative coding editor that is used (tabbing syntax highlighting), not like Google docs. Source: 50+ interviews of L3-4 candidates at Google
Yes. I had all my screeners in their interview platform but the on-sites were on Google docs lol
I had an interview last year in germany and it wasn't on Google docs but some platform(I think its custom ide?). Didn't have to set/change fonts and all that.
Still google docs
