Hey Blind fam, CS undergrad from a tier 1 college, currently working as a Product Mgr at EY. Leetcoding hard and aiming to switch to SWE within next couple months. I’d really appreciate advice on how best to find and connect directly with Hiring Managers. For a couple of reasons which I’m happy to detail, I’m thinking it’ll be the most straightforward way for me to get a first round interview if I can get on a call with a HM and convince them to give me a shot. Trouble is, while I see recruiters and the occasional LinkedIn post from a Director/VP re: hiring folks for their team, I don’t see folks really using the ‘Hiring Manager’ label on LinkedIn. Given a random FAANG SWE manager profile on LinkedIn, what would you look for to deduce the person’s a hiring manager or not? What do you guys think? Would it be possible to score a first round interview with this approach in SWE or my only hope is to try scoring a referral and dropping resume online? Note: this is how I did *not* approach recruiting in College and how I *did* approach it recently to pretty great success but this was for Consulting/MBB so would love thoughts on if same is applicable to Tech Thanks! They put Hiring now in their title on LinkedIn. Look if they are not recruiters.
Good point I’ve noticed this as well. Thanks
