Got a Sr PM offer for Mailchimp - offer is solid, but wondering about work/life balance for PMs, and support and flexibility for working parents, any insights to share? Also seen the Verge article and some of the comments around a sexist/toxic workplace - can anyone share how widespread that is vs. isolated to certain teams/leaders?
Depends what department you’re in to some extent. I’ve had a great experience as a working parent and I know many many others in the same boat. I’ve heard C-level folks refer to parental leave as “sacred” at Mailchimp. Culture stuff probably depends on where in the org you sit- I haven’t experienced anything like in the articles.
The company has a high level of chaos. It’s all about your manager and how well they can protect you and advocate for you. Attrition is 25-30% this year - CEO needs to step down. That could be really good. Jenny is excellent if you’ll be working with her she’ll make things good.
So. While the verge article was damning and no company is without problems I still think MC is a great place to work. In my experience we have amazing WLB and very empathetic treatment of working parents. While im not in product. I am a manager on a product squad. If you want to chat more specifics DM me
