Gen-AI - Bubble or Unicorn mine?
Gen ai reminds me of the blockchain craze in 2016. Everyone was trying to include blockchain in their products somehow and it was just a buzzword. Granted LLMs are more useful by far, but we are still very far from gen ai. At least 20 years imo
Have you ever used ChatGPT? It's amazing and it is the thing.
Given that every which company is putting out GPTs and every which team inside those companies are working on junk that adds very little value just so that they can say they are working on generative AI, I am going to say bubble. We are also a year removed from when GPTs stormed into the limelight. Anyone know of any major business scenarios that GPTs have solved? Marginal improvements in chatgpt since inception. Not going to deny that it's eating into some search traffic, but gpt's now are plugged into search engines as well. Multi modality is less of a technological advancement than what it's being advertised as.
It's amazing for getting VC funding.
And pumping the share price. Look at Amazon, Google, π, Microsoft. They've done nothing revolutionary in years.
