Hi all. I worked for Huawei for 5 years (2013-2018), previously in another major tech company and now in a mid-size European firm. My experience is not pure Engineering (even though I have an Engineering degree), but more Program/Product management. My wife is American. right now we are living in my country (in Europe) but we are considering the possibility of moving to USA in the medium term. Given the news and accusations on Huawei during the last 1-2 years...I was wondering if having Huawei on my resume will negatively impact my chances of getting a job. And if so, how bad it could be. I don't mind occasional trolling but I would also appreciate honest answers, please. Thanks a lot!!
What is the alternative of putting Huawei on your resume?
Being charged with espionage bc you tried to lie about it?
I will always have Huawei on my resume. But if it is going to be negatively perceived by US employers and hurt my chances of getting a (good) job if I eventually move there...maybe it is better for me to stay put in Europe (generally Huawei it is not such an issue here).
It won't look bad. Only an extremely jingoistic American would care - and they're the minority. I'm American and I collaborate with some Huawei engineers on open source work and the political aspect never comes up. It's just not relevant to the work we are doing. They're great engineers and we are happy to work with them.
Found the “american”

Tell us how many hacks you implemented into Vodafone, then we can judge you proportionally 😂 otherwise you worked there 5 years, you tell us whether it looks bad (or not)
It would not look good. If you want to come to us then try work at another company in Europe before coming to the us
I am already working for another company, but not very-well known in the US and I am afraid the Huawei brand will stand out too much (for the worse)
For the Telco industry, it’s a good place to learn and a good stepping stone. However if you want to work for American tech companies, they can eventually feel reluctant. Despite what people say or think, Huawei is a great company. When we switched from Nokia to HUAWEI we had major network improvements.
I know people working at Google and Facebook who found their jobs after they got laid off from Huawei last year. You will be fine.
fb has done way more damage than huawei to us democracy, no one gives a shit.
No one cares. Honestly it’d be unprofessional for someone to make an off color reference to your time at Huawei, and for those that reject you cuz if it, f*ck em 🤷🏾♂️
