Was given feedback today by a recruiter, and it was something really unexpected. It seemed to me like that one of the interviewers completely made up how I performed. For example, saying I need too many hints (none were given) and that I didn't provide optimal solution (I did provide optimal solution). I know many of you are gonna say stuff like "maybe you didn't perform as well as you think you did". Well, that's of course a possibility, but after giving so many interviews now, I believe I have enough self-awareness about how I did, and I am fairly confident in my assessment here. So assuming this is indeed the case, I am wondering if anyone else here had this happens? And what did you do about it? (If anything can be done about it anyway - I guess not) It's not a secret that lots of the job ads being posted nowadays are fake, just for the purpose of someone's green card application. And sometimes interviewers already have a plan of hiring their buddy and just have to interview other candidates to satisfy some criteria.
Most of time this was case , recently in oci interviewer as wrong and he was stubborn to accept obviously I got rejected. Previously with Walmart I solved coding and feedback was I did not , I had whole code saved I sent to hiring mgr and he did not get back to me lol ,
I had similar experience with OCI
People tend to think they are better than they are.
Did you read my post in full? The problem was LC type with a well known optimal solution. No hints were given either. Of course some are gonna think they did better than they actually did. But does that mean that interviewers never lie about how candidate performed due to their own incentives (GC application and hiring buddies)? Of course not. People tend to lie if it will benefit them.
It still hurts me how two dumb fuck EMs fabricated my EM onsite feedback. I am going somewhere else that I am happy about ! But I will try again in a bit!!
This is normal with Indian interviewers (Indian as well). They tend to make things up for some reasons maybe because you didn’t solve a problem the way they would have themselves. But just move on and there is nothing you can do. Life ain’t fair, you gotta play the hand given to you.
Nah it's just Nepotism. Pure and simple. Then make up BS answer on performance so you can hire your buddy instead.
If it makes you feel better, leave a bad review on Glassdoor/Blind saying you thought the interview was unprofessional. Then remove that company from the list of places you ever consider again and move on.
Also report interviewer to hr, recruiter, demand investigation
The problem is, it's your word against theirs. And they will (probably) side with their employee in this case, and maybe flag you in their system. IMO, this is only a rational move if you are very sure you don't want to work there ever.
How many problems did you solve during the internet?
Not surprised. Leetcode is supposed to be this objective test but in reality, hiring has always been subjective. He can write whatever he wants. As long as there is a person involved, it’s not nearly as meritocratic as people think.
Move on
I have another good offer so I will be moving on, but I guess it still hurts a bit, considering how much time I spent preparing and I was genuinely interested in this company. I am just sharing my experience and looking to see if others had similar experience, how did they handle it, and how often it happens. Might be just unlucky this time, who knows, but still very interesting to see how one interviewer straight up making up lies can cost you an opportunity.
Eventually you will run out of the place to "move on " to....
