I work at Fidelity in the operations department in Dallas, TX and they’re all about work/life balance. I’m able to work 8 hours and still go to classes for my masters in the evening. Unfortunately I’m making close to nothing, $48,000 and at work I’m one person doing basically 4 people’s work. I feel like because I’m young and only two years into the workforce I’m being taking advantage of. I’m afraid to apply elsewhere because at the moment I can’t stay late to work because of school but I’m barely making a living. I want to move into tech but not sure how to get those skills. I’m open to new positions in this area or remote. Any advice would be helpful!
Get a project going on your own - build something simple, like a website for finding tacos near you. Learn about web technologies and how to run code on a server. Then apply to small startups on angel list that are desperate for any engineers. Get some experience as a software engineer, no matter how shitty the gig. Then leetcode your ass off, learn data structures and algorithms, and apply to FAANG.
what u mean barely making living, that’s above avg? what is the degree in? what r ur plans w/ it?
