Did anyone move back to their home country due to not finding a job in the current US job market? or did anyone decide to move back volunteerly in recent times due to various reasons? please comment down below your thinking behind it. I am laid off and currently in this dilemma of weighing down my options. thanks, folks. TC : 0 #h1b #workvisa
I recommend looking across other regions. Canada is easier for visas so is the EU, both offering a lot of opportunities and quality of life and job security at the expense of TC. Or if you have an adventurous streak, look at Vietnam or even Africa. Both have an up and coming tech scene and you can live comfortably, albeit not saving as much as you can in the US.
Canada sucks ..never ever go to Canada..lack of opportunity and TC are low and high house prices..also it shelters the terroirs
“Also it shelters the terroirs”: “Terroir (/tɛˈrwɑːr/, French: [tɛʁwaʁ]; from terre, "land") is a French term used to describe the environmental factors that affect a crop's phenotype, including unique environment contexts, farming practices and a crop's specific growth habitat.” /s In all seriousness, one can find great opportunities in most countries and Canada has a large big tech footprint while making immigration way easier than the US. But I personally would recommend the EU these days. They seem like a more sane alternative with a high quality of life. But that’s my personal view, probably colored by a desire to do that for myself
Yes; move back to India.
India may have some jobs, we’re hiring in India.
India has plenty of jobs. Many of the Salesforce positions that were closed after the layoffs have been opened in India
Yea for sure. Many of my friends have moved back to India and have landed up in good jobs. I am also infact thinking of moving back for good in case something happens with my job here
Don't wait to get laid off.. get an offer and move if that's your decision. You could move within Amazon to India and change as well.
Especially if you have a us born kid you’re going to get GC through that faster, so going to India would still keep you in the GC queue
It depends on circumstances. I have friends who came to the US when they were young and have already been in the US > 10 years. They have accumulated a lot of wealth here as well as properties in India. They enjoyed the crazy growth years from 2010 till now. They also went back to India either with current company or with better job offers there. Some of them are either retiring early or taking high level positions in India. Their new Indian salaries are already 1-2 crore or more. Some of them already have green cards or citizenship as well. Such people feel good about going back and connecting with family But I also have other friends who came to the US quite late in their lives. Some in their 30s. They started with service companies with low paying jobs etc. so they are early in their journey to building wealth here as well as back home. They know they can earn 3-4X here than in india. Their paperwork is still stuck and will be for years. Most of these people don’t want to go back.
1-2 cr salary is 🥜 in india
What minimum wouldn’t be a peanut in India according to you? @Google
I decided to move back during next summer. I will not join the Amazon India, but will try to find some good company or May open my own startup
Foolish move if you have a lot of RSU, relocate and carry over RSU. Then quit after the US grants are done vesting
Yes move back and support your own country
Actually, I forgot to mention, I have already got my US Citizenship. It is just I am finding many reasons to go back to India while my both kids are just under 4 and come back when they will be in high schools
How did you get a US passport so soon Amazon?
On H1, i am assuming you are still young enough to pull out of this situation and recover Ditch your ego and try to find a contract gig (i am laid off too and am open to contract work) Going back to India is always the default option, don't think too much about it, unless you have large assets / home here which take time to dispose of
yea, not really responding to the contract gigs available as I believe they will just rope you in with long-term contracts.
how does it matter? if you have already decided to move back, just leave any day if the contract work is not satisfactory If you have already made peace with the worst case scenario of going back, what does a contract break change ?
Moved back home after being laid off. Working on my business idea
Good idea, open your business. Tech is done
If tech is done, what kind of business is gonna survive?
Medical. Booming demand capped supply. Doctor salaries are gonna skyrocket
