Lied on my level in Comp negotiation

Hey blind community, I was trying to hide my level bc it’s not matching with my yoe during comp negotiation phase. But the recruiter kept pushing me, thus I lied about it - What to do right now?

Which company are you targeting?

How would they even find out

Google d-ll-b Mar 22, 2021

Had the exact problem, I don't really think they can find out so just stick to your story

It will show on the background check 3 - swe II 4 - swe III 5 - sr swe 6 - staff swe ...

Google d-ll-b Mar 22, 2021

I don't think the background check goes into what level you are at, I think the background check is for whether you committed felonies or have bankruptcies etc etc. You don't have to define for me the levels at Google, I know what they are...

If it’s realistic no one will ask. Even if they ask, act offended they wont believe you.

Title comes up in background check

Just don’t tell, never lie. A friend of mine literally got offer rescinded by Facebook after they find out he is actually l4 at gg not l5 as he told them..

Did they ask your level because you are working at Google? I worked at a random company before FB, where director/principal SWEs were making the same as E5 at FB ($400k). So they didn't bother to ask if I was Senior I or II (I was indeed Senior I)
