Looking for suggestions for carrier in Machine Learning
Hello, I am planning to change my carrier to ML engineer. I have almost 8 years of work experience in IT industry( mostly QA) . I am learning Machine learning with Python using online resource. looking for suggestions, How to move forward from here so I can get a job? #data #datascience

You want to switch to Data science or ML engineering? The two roles are different in most places. Which one do you want ? And keep in mind for both options, the competition is stiff now. But, with hard work you can definitely get there.

ML engineer interview is almost similar to regular SWE interviews, with heavy focus on data structure and algorithms. There could also be some ML design rounds and ML basics. For you, the challenge will be to get past the resume screening as you are competing with people with ML degrees. Your best bet is to work hard, learn the basics first, complete full online courses, do some projects and try to showcase those projects. It will take a year to year and a half to get prepared. Then keep applying , ask for referrals, build networks and hope you will get interview calls. Once you get the call, you can clear it if you are good in Leetcode and know the ML basics(which is the easier part of the interview).
