Hi everyone, I have 8 years of experience and currently hold a level 62 SDE position at Microsoft, with a promotion to L63 set for the upcoming cycle. My current TC is $200k. I recently interviewed with Google for an L5 position at Seattle location. The recruiter confirmed that I would receive an offer, but they down-leveled me since only 2 out of 5 interviewers agreed on the L5 level. The recruiter has given me two options: Option 1 : Accept the L4 level offer. Dont have exact numbers but recruiter mentioned it would be around 275k + annual 15% bonus including ~25k sign on bonus for first year and front loaded RSUs for 4 years. Option 2 : Schedule another 2 rounds of interviews and get both interviewers to strongly align for L5. If I fail in this, I won't even receive the L4 offer. It's a high-risk, high-reward scenario. I'm looking for advice on the following: 1. Is Option 2 realistically achievable? Has anyone been in a similar situation? 2. What is average YOE for L4 vs L5 external hires? 3. If I pursue Option 2 and don't succeed, will my L4 offer be completely off the table? 4. What should I expect in terms of salary range for a Google L4 position in Seattle? 5. Is it tough to get a team matching for L4 in current market? How soon can I expect that to happen? Please share your experiences, views, and suggestions. Any insights on Google L4 compensation would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help! #google #microsoft #downlevel #l4vsl5 #amazon #seattle
