Most Blinders chase big techs. FAANGMULA+ techs. It's good for a few years to learn what make them successful, but don't tunnel vision on your options for long term. You're only hurting yourself by competing against others at your caliber. Instead, look for a leprechaun with a golden pot. I was an average PM (Eng ladder) at Amazon and Google. I was at each for 2 years. But average at big techs almost always translates to top 1% at non-tech below Tier F. An example - I've been with LVMH the past 6 months at borderline exec level. LVMH is huge and has money to pay decently. But their IT department is quite retarded. they still use techs you'd expect to see in museums. what this means is that you have endless amount of options to make company impacting decisions. At LVMH, I'm looked at like a distinguished personnel for implementing the most basic process used in FAANG. Told my old colleague about this, and she found the same success at Nestle, another giant cash cow with Eng department stuck in 1992. I work ~10hrs/week at 550k TC. Stop chasing FAANGMULA+ and find your leprechaun. L5s at Amazon and Goog, 385k TC borderline exec at LVMH, 550k TC
Did they hire you as a Product Manager or some director of eng role? Iβm surprised you get that much say in the process.
Wow I didnβt know LVMH pays that well. Paris office? Does this also translate to UX and Product Design?
Google...are you still at LVMH? Can I DM you for a referral to a position there?
I worked on-site at LVMH in Paris. Holy hell is it hard getting anyone to do anything.
