I will probably have to choose between new grad roles at these two firms next week. I'm finding it very hard to make a decision, so would appreciate any answers here a lot. HRT (algo developer) Pros: - More relaxed atmosphere - Buy-side prop trading, close to alpha - Low turnover Cons: - Role is in London office, which is much smaller, with fewer people to learn from. Also worried about living in the shadow of NYC office. - Very strong competitors which could impact how well the firm does. Citadel Securities (quantitative researcher) Pros: - Higher upside comp wise (?) - Bigger office with more people to learn from, and firm is doing very well atm, with few really good competitors. Cons: - High turnover (?) - Sell-side market making team (harder to find interesting opportunities later?) What do you guys think - where am I most likely to do get an interesting quant job for the next few years? And is turnover a real factor here, i.e. does Citadel Securities have a very high turnover for these roles? Any other points that I've missed above? (Will update TC when I receive the offer letters.) #hudsonrivertrading #citadelsecurities
New grad as in PhD grad? QR and algo dev are different roles.
I thought algo dev was the QR equivalent at HRT?
Algo dev = quant dev. QR = QR.
At HRT, algo dev is like QR + quant dev. I would go for HRT, better culture
First get both offers, then take the highest bidder. In case of a close tie HRT is not a bad choice
go with HRT
Why?
Were the interviews in cpp or python?
You can choose between cpp and python.
Can I dm you?
Which master’s did you do? Do you have any work experience before?
Go to HRT, you won't regret it
Interesting - why?
